From WOOD COUNTY DOG SHELTER
Everyone is invited to meet Ellie, a 5-year-old pit mix that originally came to the shelter as a stray in 2025. Ellie became the Wood County Dog Shelter’s long-stay, then was adopted in November 2025. She returned to the shelter after her owner passed away and has become a long-stay once again.
Ellie’s owner loved her very much, and they did everything together. Ellie loved going for rides with him and visiting the dog park. She is now looking for her new forever home, where she can be spoiled just like she was with her dad. Ellie is shy of new people, so she will need a patient owner to show her that the world is not such a scary place.
Because of Ellie’s shyness, she would do better in a home with older kids. She does well with other dogs, but the future owner will want to do a meet-and-greet with any dogs she may be going home with.
Ellie has been at the shelter since early April of 2026, is up-to-date on her vaccines, and is ready to find her new family.
Ellie’s adoption fee is $116, which includes a 2026 dog license.
The hours for the shelter are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays. The Wood County Dog Shelter is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, and can be reached by calling 419-354-9242.
