Richard “Benny” Benson, 76, of Northwood, Ohio passed away April 28, 2022. He was born March 20, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio to the late James Benson Sr. and Frances “Jo” (Henry) Benson.
Benny was a graduate of Libbey High School. He retired from Libbey Owens Ford. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and went on to serve in the Navy Reserves when he returned home.
He was a collector of eagles and mugs and earlier in his life enjoyed doing ceramics. Benny loved taking road trips to site see and never missed an opportunity to grab dinner and a drink at any local Eagles he came across. He enjoyed visiting his granddaughter on Sunday’s at Moe’s Place in Rossford. He also enjoyed volunteering at food pantry’s around Northewest Ohio.
He is survived by his children Loraine (Mark) Powers of Perrysburg, Ohio, Robert (Carol) Kelly of Huntingdon, England, grandchildren Melissa (Mitch) Kubacki of Bowling Green, Ohio, Jeffrey (Bethany) Brough of Northwood, Ohio and Lisa Kelly (Jamie) of Cambridgeshire, England, great-grandchildren Skyler, Kylie, Cadence, George and Henry, sister Darla (Butch) Lubahn and brother Gary Benson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers and 4 sisters.
A celebration of Benny’s life will be held on Sunday June 12, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Eagles, 658 Lime City Rd. Rossford, Ohio 43460. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
