Karl A. Bires, 90, of Sylvania, Ohio passed away Saturday November 5, 2022. He was born on August 7, 1932 to John and Eleanor Bires in Toledo, Ohio. His wife, Sandra C Bires, 88, passed away 9 days later on November 14, 2022. She was born on July 17, 1934 in Bowling Green, Ohio. She and Karl were happily married for 69 years.
Karl was a hardworking man who loved the outdoors, spending time fishing and walking in the park alongside his wife, Sandra. He worked in automobile sales at George Ballas and Kistler Ford. His main joy came from loving his wife and working around the house. Karl served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Sandra had a passion for fashion and jewelry and loved to dress up and look her best. She loved drinking coffee and going on walks with her husband, Karl.
Karl and Sandra are survived by their sons Thomas (Katie) Bires and Steve Bires as well as grandchildren Molly, Tatum, Joseph, Matthew, Crystal Cullum Filbert, Owen, Hayden and great-grandsons Trevor and Aysen. Karl’s sister Peggy (Bill) Harbor and sister-in-law Ellen Bires also survives as well as great friends Raye Brott, Mable and Joe Shafer.
They were preceded in death by their sons Mark Bires and Tim Bires as well as Karl’s brother John (Ellen) Bires Jr.
Family and friends are welcome to a Celebration of Life Memorial Service that will be held on Friday November 25, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43623.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street.
