Scott R Guthrie

Scott R. Guthrie, 71, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away March 10, 2026. He was born July 15, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Mearl R. Guthrie Jr. and Lolita A. (Thayer) Guthrie.

When Scott was six months old, his family moved to Bowling Green, where Scott grew up and was a lifelong resident. He earned his Associates degree in Electronics from Owens Tech, and went on to work as an Electronic Technician at BGSU for over 30 years. An avid toy collector, he delighted in the nostalgia and craftsmanship of his collection. He was a fan of science fiction and fantasy, especially Doctor Who and Star Trek. Outside, he felt most at home in nature – rock hounding, fossil collecting, and spending time in nature. Summers were spent exploring new places with his family. An Eagle Scout, he carried the values of scouting throughout his life, approaching each day with curiosity and a spirit of adventure. Some of his most cherished memories were the trips he took growing up with his family, and adventures he shared with his longtime friend, Amy Potter, exploring new places, and enjoying the simple joy of the journey together.

He is survived by his sister Carla Guthrie Hall (Bill) of Wooster, Ohio, niece Julie (Jim) Pooler of Wooster, Ohio, great-niece and great- nephew Eleanor & Lewis Pooler of Wooster, Ohio as well as longtime friend Amy Potter of Bowling Green.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents Mearl and Lolita Guthrie.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 16, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster St. Interment will follow at Sargent Cemetery in Rudolph, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Wood District of Erie Shores Scouts Troop #222 or to the Wood County Humane Society.
