The Cardinal Chorale will be in concert at First Baptist Church, 749 South Wintergarden Road, Bowling Green, on Monday, June 12. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Organized in 1995 by its conductor, Charles R. Snyder, the Cardinal Chorale is a select 40-voice traveling ensemble of high school and collegiate singers from around Ohio and neighboring states.
The Chorale has sung at professional development conferences of the Ohio Music Education Association and the Ohio Choral Directors Association, three gubernatorial inaugurations, the rededication of the Ohio Statehouse, and a concert at Penn State University celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fred Waring’s birth.
Their six-day, seven-concert tour will include concerts in Bucyrus, Amlin, Marion, Bowling Green, Dayton, Powell, and Coshocton. The Chorale’s 90-minute program will feature selections from their current show, “Let There Be Peace,” music that “will fill the soul and lift the spirit,” as one listener described a Chorale performance. They will also have shortened performances at care centers in Chesterville and Fostoria. Some selections on this concert will include: “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” “Memories,” “The Nearness of You,” “The River,” and “This Is My Father’s World.”
Area Chorale members include: Garrett Brown, Elle Mitsch, Brody Rodriguez, Aidan Thomas, and Drew Thomas and staff members Beth and James Vaughn.
Ryan Gildow, a five-year member shared, “Every performance I love seeing the joy on people’s faces. When I see the audience smiling and showing appreciation for our music, I’m enveloped with happiness of my own. I absolutely love getting to spread the sound of music to people across the state, and impact their lives in a positive way.”
There is no admission charge for the concert, but an offering will be received to help cover the Chorale’s tour expenses and provide scholarships for singers to participate in the ensemble.
