Shirley Busselle, of Grand Rapids, died on Thursday at Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green.
She was born in Detroit and raised in Indiana. In 1964 she moved to Grand Rapids with her husband, Fred Busselle, and their 2-year-old son, Rick. She loved Grand Rapids, and had very dear friends there.
Over the years, she and Fred, traveled, sometimes on a motorcycle, they had a sailboat, and generally enjoyed life and friends. After Fred died in 1997, Shirley continued to travel and visit her grandchildren and beloved nephews.
As much as anything, Shirley loved dogs, and loved to un-train them. Within days, she could have even the best trained dog begging for table scraps, sitting on the furniture, and sleeping in the bed. She had many dogs and treated them all like children.
Shirley worked in the fertilizer division of Andersons for more than 25 years. She loved her job and the people she worked with.
She leaves behind a son, Rick, Daughter-in-Law, Dawn Shinew, and two grandchildren, Luther and Lucinda. They loved her very much.
A celebration of Shirley’s life is being planned for early June.
