State patrol investigating fatal crash in Webster Township

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred
on Oct. 30, shortly before 7 p.m. The crash occurred at the intersection of
state routes 582 (Middleton Pike) and 199 (McCutchonville), Webster Township in Wood County.

Michael J. Rossi, 31, of Bradner, was driving a 2012 Dodge SW, traveling southbound on Ohio 199. Edward Kowalski, 51, of Perrysburg was driving a 2015 Freightliner Semi truck and was traveling eastbound on Ohio 582, when he failed to stop for the posted stop sign striking Rossi’s vehicle.

After the impact both vehicles came to rest on the south side of SR 582. Rossi was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kowalski was not injured.

The intersection remained closed for approximately four hours. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor and the crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Ohio Department of Transportation, Troy Township Fire and EMS, and Pat and Son Towing.
