Voters in the Bowling Green City School District will decide an
important issue on the Nov. 5 ballot that will not only promote
student achievement but also strengthen the community.
One community elementary school will be built at the north end of
the high school/middle school campus.
A 30-year, 1.6-mill property tax would cost a homeowner $4.67 per
month for a $100,000 home, and a 0.25 percent traditional income
tax would cost $13.80 per month for a median family income of
$66,215. Part of the funds generated from the levy will go to a
dedicated capital improvements fund.
The need is real for the district, which has the oldest and most
outdated school buildings in Wood County, with its elementary
buildings failing to meet today’s instructional needs. The condition
of these buildings has become a major economic development issue
for the community.
Before making a decision, remember that public schools are the
heart of any community and a worthwhile investment.
