A BGSU student-run grant project, “From students, for community,” is now accepting donations from Bowling Green community members to support local efforts that enact positive change in the area and reach their $2,000 goal.

In past two years, the project has raised $3,300 used to support four local nonprofits – Welcome BG, Falcon Food Pantry, Wood County Hospital, and Wood County Museum. The grants supported diapers for new mothers and making museum exhibits accessible to neurodivergent guests.

The final recipient of the grant funding is considered through a diligent process where students from the class committee review grant materials, interview with the organization, and evaluate how applicants strive to positively impact the Bowling Green community.

Students in Dr Abhishek Bhati’s’s Nonprofit Management and Leadership course are using the project as an opportunity to support Bowling Green while enhancing their fundraising and grant-writing skills in the nonprofit sector to prepare for careers in public service.

The “S4C” grant is designed to allow a wide variety of local organizations to apply if they meet the requirements of being a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and being able to identify how earning the grant will help them meet their service goals.

Donations and grant applications can be submitted on From Student for Community website

The application will be open until March 26 and donations will be accepted until March 27. Checks can be made out to BGSU and mailed to “Abhishek Bhati, 107 Williams Hall, BGSU, Bowling Green, OH 43403” with “Grant Writing Class” in the memo line.

Also, grant application is open to nonprofit organizations serving the residents of Bowling Green. Preference will be given to nonprofit organizations serving the residents of Bowling Green. However, outstanding grant applications will be accepted from organizations serving residents of Wood County.
