From TOLEDO FEDERATION OF ART SOCIETIES

Continuing the Toledo Federation of Art Societies (TFAS) tradition since 1918 of coordinating juried regional exhibitions, TFAS will once again offer its now-biennial juried exhibition for artists in the greater-Toledo region.

This year, the exhibit is hosted by The University of Toledo, Department of Art, at the Center for the Visual Arts.

TFAS100+5: Juried Regional Exhibition is an all-media competition, open to all artists 18 years of age and older in the Toledo / Northwest Ohio / Southeast Michigan regions, with independent membership and a TFAS artist directory listing on the TFAS100.org website included in the entry fee. Exhibited artwork and juried honors will be selected by a distinguished guest judge, Charles A. Shepard III, President & CEO of Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Exhibit dates are June 17 – August 6, 2022.

The exhibit will present more than $4,000 in awards, including the $1,000 Founders Best of Show Award, sponsored by the 1917 founding organizations of TFAS: Toledo Museum of Art, Athena Art Society and Tile Club of Toledo. Other awards include the Kingston Healthcare Purchase Award. The Kingston Healthcare Purchase Award will enable the acquisition of an outstanding artwork for the prestigious Toledo Federation of Art Societies’ permanent public collection, acquired from 1948 to the present.

The most recent previous acquisition to the TFAS permanent collection was a watercolor painting by Toledo artist Aaron S. Bivins, “Young Beauty”, as the TFAS Purchase Award of the 2020 TFAS 100+3: Juried Members’ Exhibit.

A digital exhibition catalogue will be produced for “TFAS100+5” that will include award-winners, exhibition information, a listing of all exhibited artists’ names and cities, artwork titles, medium and value. The catalogue will be available online at tfas100.org, accessible via QR code posted within the exhibit.

The TFAS100+5 exhibit prospectus is available online at tfas100.org – Applications must be submitted digitally at tfas100.org/tfas100_plus_5_call_for_entries. A $40 application fee is required for entry. 100% of submission fee income goes to TFAS for the purpose of furthering their community programming. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m., March 25, 2022.

The TFAS100+5 exhibit at the Center for the Visual Arts will open June 17 and remain on view through August 6.

The Opening Reception will take place on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 5– 7:30 p.m., in the courtyard of the Center for the Visual Arts; the Award Ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Center for the Visual Arts’ regular hours are Monday—Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and are subject to change to meet updated COVID-19 and The University of Toledo guidelines.

President Margaret Lockwood-Lass remarks: “We are excited about presenting this professional juried art exhibit with TFAS-member organization The University of Toledo, Department of Art that follows our 105-year mission of supporting the visual artists of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. It’s also a great opportunity to add to the TFAS permanent collection, made possible through the generous support of Kingston Healthcare Company with the Kingston Healthcare Purchase Award.”
