From WOOD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS’ OFFICE
The Wood County Commissioners have announced a joint adoption event at Sunset Bistro on Saturday, March 21, from 3 – 5 p.m. Wood County Dog Shelter staff and volunteers will be onsite with adoptable dogs to answer any questions and assist with adopting people’s new forever friends. Snacks and drinks will also be available.
Every year in the United States, approximately 6.5 million animals go into shelters with roughly half being dogs. Wood County Dog Shelter will partner with Sunset Bistro to bring light to many adoptable dogs in Wood County.
Donations for the Wood County Dog Shelter will also be accepted. Donations that are needed include canned food, soft treats, peanut butter, canned pumpkin, pig ears, and non-rawhide chew bones.
The dog adoption fee of $100 is to help with the spay/neutering and care for the dogs while at the shelter. Each adopter will need to purchase a 2026 Wood County dog license for $16 with their adoption. Adopters will leave with a 2026 Dog Park membership and goodie bag for their new family member.
Adoption license and fees can be done at the event with cash or check. No credit card transactions will be accepted at this time.
