Manny Patel, owner of The Curry Lounge, said serving Indian cuisine is a way to repay the community for the generosity he has received. For him serving Indian cuisine is a service to the Bowling Green community.

“Where I grew up, I am from communities, so I want to pay them back,” he said. “I am happy to help.”

The BG Chamber of Commerce, BG locals and family celebrated the grand opening of The Curry Lounge Thursday morning. Mayor Mike Aspacher and members of the Bowling Green Police and Fire Department were also in attendance showing support.

The front door was decorated with an orange, green and white balloon arch — the colors of the Indian flag, with a matching green ribbon for the ceremony. Drinks and light appetizers were offered.

A neighbor of the Patel family, Ginny Chambers, said the Patels have been nothing but generous to their neighborhood and the Bowling Green community, especially when the party calls for food.

“I am feeling so excited, and a lot of people are excited,” said Patel. “I want to say thank you.”

The Curry Lounge is open Mondays and Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch, and 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Buffet-style lunch is available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
