As someone with a master’s in theology it is my obligation to expose a fake Bible college operating in NW Ohio: Revere Bible College (Monclova, Ohio). By “fake” is meant a “college” that is unaccredited (with no evidence that accreditation was sought) and whose founder (who also teaches Biblical Studies), by his own admission, does not possess even an associate’s degree. It is a scam that, according to one of its own promotional videos, a student sold his business to attend (the founder of the school says in a video that most colleges are “too expensive”). Of all the institutions I have attended, including law school, I never encountered a student who had to sell their own business to pay for the tuition. In Business school, you would be laughed at for making such a stupid decision.
According to Google AI: “Based on available information, “Revere Bible College” appears to be a fictional institution, and therefore there is no credible evidence of a recognized college with this name offering Bible studies or degrees.”
Their own social media account shows several women wearing “Revere Bible College” apparel literally getting books out of a recycling bin and taking them to a checkout counter before the next scene shows said books on the shelf. No serious educational institute, let alone one at the college level, would get all of their books from a bin.
If that were not bad enough, the founder is a young earth creationist. Yes, in 2025 Ohio there are still young earth creationists preaching that all of science from the ancient Greeks to today is wrong, and that only a very questionable interpretation of the Bible (usually the King James Version*) is reliable regarding the natural world. Prior to founding Revere Bible College, Whitlow was associated with Cedar Creek Church, a megachurch chain which also taught young earth creationism for a time and even had Ken Ham speak at the flagship church in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Here is the cost of tuition at Revere Bible College: https://reverebiblecollege.com/tuition-costs
Here is the cost of tuition at Owens Community College: https://www.owens.edu/tuitionaid/tuition/ for in-state tuition for full-time (12 hrs min) the cost is *almost a thousand dollars less* than Revere Bible College! Keep in mind that Owens, unlike Revere Bible College, IS accredited. We are comparing apples to rocks.
Steven Whitlow claims in a video that 47% of students drop out Freshman year. That is patently false (see below). The highest number listed is 39% *within eight years*. The actual statistic for students who drop out within their first year is 23.3%. Whitlow, naturally, cited no sources for his outlandish claim and did not provide any in the description of his video (like a 3am infomercial salesman).
Whitlow claims that his school does not tolerate socialism but has something that most people would agree is not a good alternative: financial advice from another fraud who got hit with a hundred-and fifty-million-dollar lawsuit for giving terrible financial advice, Dave Ramsey. Ramsey’s books are pictured on Revere’s social media pages. A 1000 level business course at any community college would at least use books from actual financial experts instead of hucksters like Ramsey.
Nobody on this entire faculty or staff list has an advanced degree in a relevant discipline from any accredited institution, anywhere. None appear to even have a BA in Biblical Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or any discipline in the humanities. It is impossible to teach the Bible, at the college level, if one does not possess any language skills whatsoever. Whitlow and his crew have never physically handled a Biblical manuscript, or even seen one like this: https://www.csntm.org/product/new-testament-papyri-facsimile-p47-transcription-bundle/. I have a first edition of Westcott and Hort’s Greek New Testament. I can read much of it without looking at a lexicon. Whitlow and his colleagues do not even know how to read the title. In fact, their “classics professor” appears to have zero formal training in any foreign language at all, let alone Hebrew or Greek. Most actual higher education institutions have the CV of all the faculty in their bios. Not a single instructor at RBS has a CV on their website or social media pages.
Whitlow claims that students at Revere Bible College will “read the great books” but in another video he said, “no Socialism”. If you’re reading this and have ever been into a library over the past one-hundred odd years, you know that the works of Marx are always included in any serious collection of “Great Books of the Western World” since it is impossible to understand modern political science without having at least a baseline understanding of Marx, just like it is necessary to understand Adam Smith.
Whitlow also falsely claims that most students at community colleges have 20,000$ in debt. That is absurdly false. The fact that Whitlow expects anyone to believe that (even his fellow young earth creationists) would be laughable but for the fact that such a scammer exists. He also suggests that college dropouts end up “working at Amazon, UPS, or retail store (sic).” Ignoring the fact that he doesn’t specify where he got that information or what jobs those former students got, I found it odd that a school that claims to teach “good business” classes would take a shot at two of the biggest companies in the United States. If there are any Amazon, UPS, or retail store managers/CEOs reading this, please do not hire Whitlow or anyone who teaches or attends Revere Bible College. They obviously do not like your company! Go hire someone from Owens or BGSU instead.
In another video, Whitlow says that “Here at Revere, there are no stupid classes”. Those “Stupid classes” would naturally include any science or history class which establish the age of the earth as more than 6,000 years. Notably, no Biblical language courses are taught at Revere (unlike actual Bible colleges) and not a single person at Revere appears to even know the Hebrew or Greek alphabet. The founder also says that students get “no sympathy”. Obviously, a scam artist like him would say that, laughing to the bank as students sell their business to pay to attend his worthless school. With that said, scammers like Steven Whitlow get no sympathy from real Bible scholars.
