From TOLEDO ALLIANCE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
The Toledo Ballet announced its 2020 Summer Camp programs, week-long classes designed for kids ages 4-8 focusing on creative movement, coordination, and beginning ballet. Toledo Ballet faculty will lead these classes and activities in-person at the studio and through virtual options. Formal dance experience is not required to participate.
“These camps are the perfect way to open young kids to the world of dance through fun and engaging activities,” says Lisa Mayer-Lang, Artistic Director for the Toledo Ballet. “This year, we are expanding our accessibility and offering both in-studio and virtual options to best reach all families. Since many parents with young children have been at home during this time, our hope is that these camps will be a productive activity to safely get out of the house and introduce them to ballet movement.”
STORYBOOK BALLET CAMP
June 22-26 or July 20-24, 2020
Toledo Ballet’s Storybook Ballet Camp is designed for kids ages 4-5 that focuses on introducing young movers and shakers to the world of books through various dance activities. The camp is centered around classic stories, including The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy Winkle, and more.
DANCE EXPLORATION CAMP
June 22-26 or July 20-24, 2020
Led by Toledo Ballet instructors, the Dance Exploration Camp designed for kids ages 6-8 is a week-long introductory camp to the world of dance through different genres and styles, including ballet, jazz, modern dance, and more.
“After months a part, we are very excited to open our doors to the community again this summer. We’ve spent the past few weeks securing the safest environment for everyone at our studio while classes begin to resume,” says Lisa. “I can assure you that the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff continues to be our main focus. We have policies and protocols in place that are recommended by the State of Ohio to address any questions parents might have.”
