Bowling Green Police charged two men with improper handling of firearms in their vehicles on Saturday (Aug. 8).
An officer was patrolling the city parking lot at North Church and West Court streets, around 10:16 p.m., when two people were reportedly seen to have open containers of alcoholic beverages in their vehicle. Both were also underage for alcohol consumption.
Police reportedly found a Glock 45 in the center console, with the magazine containing 10 rounds in the gun. The owner, Jackson Vest, 19, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was charged with improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle, underage drinking, and open container.
Around the same time on Saturday, police stopped a pickup truck traveling southbound on Haskins Road with no headlights or taillights. The driver reportedly told police there was a handgun next to her right leg, where the officer found the gun in a holster.
The driver told police that the owner of the truck had been taken to Wood County Hospital after his hand was injured at the Wood County Fair. She said she was driving his pickup truck to the hospital for him.
The owner of the pickup was given a misdemeanor citation.
