Two people arrested after the stolen car they were in ran out of gas in BG

Bowling Green Police arrested two people this morning (1/22) after the stolen car they were in ran out of gas on the north edge of the city.

Residents in the 17000 block of North Main Street called police around 1 a.m., after an unknown person rang their doorbell, then reportedly walked behind their house and around their barn. When officers arrived, they found two people sitting in a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix in the driveway.

The driver, Angell Green, 39, of Harrison, Michigan, said the passenger, William Yats, 20, also of Harrison, was trying to get help after their vehicle ran out of gas.

Dispatch notified officers on the scene that the car was confirmed stolen out of Clare County, Michigan. Police also reportedly found drug paraphernalia in the car and on both Green and Yats.

Green was arrested for receiving stolen property and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to Wood County Jail.

Yats was charged with criminal trespassing and drug abuse involving marijuana. Since Yats reportedly couldn’t stay awake, he was taken to Wood County Hospital to be medically cleared before going to jail.
