Bowling Green State University President Rodney Rogers and BGSU Advocate Sandra Earle hosted a special brunch at the University House celebrating the 100th anniversary of the University Women of BGSU on Aug. 17. The brunch was open to all members of University Women of BGSU and prospective members.

The brunch was the kick-off of the 2024-25 year for the University Women whose formal objectives are to encourage a friendly and cooperative spirit within its diversified membership and to foster a continuing interest in the university and its surrounding communities.

Additionally, the group strives to encourage and assist part-time or full-time, non-traditional undergraduate women through our scholarship funding. Four female students were presented with 2024-25 scholarships for $2,000 and one $1,000 scholarship.

University Women of BGSU provides social fellowship and fun for its members, primarily through various small interest groups. These groups usually meet monthly during the academic year. The entire group meets for planned social events throughout the year, at which time spouses and friends who may want to join are encouraged to attend.

The special interest groups include Afternoon Bridge, Antiques and Collectibles, Docent-led tours at the Toledo Museum of Art, Movie Groups, BGSU Arts Group, Book Groups, Community Service, Craft Group, Morning Blooms Gardening Group, Knitting/Crocheting (Knitwits), Lunch Bunch, Movie Discussion Groups, Social Group (Expresso Yourself), TOOTs (The Out of Tuners), Travelers Group, and Thinkers- a Discussion Group. There truly is something for everyone. Information about the interest groups can be found on the website at universitywomenofbgsu.com
