The Wood County Commissioners recently appointed Virginia Nuzum, an active member of the Bowling Green community, to the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities, effective in January 2025.

Nuzum is employed at two agencies within Wood County and currently participates in several Wood County Special Olympics sports and recreation events offered by the board. She also likes to utilize her green thumb at various programs at the WCBDD greenhouse.

Previously she has participated as an active member of Aktion Club and People First. The two WCBDD advocacy groups are specifically dedicated to guiding individuals served to use their voice and partake in community service projects.

When asked what she was most anticipating as a new board member Nuzum said, “Helping others.”  Her concerns and passion to advocate for the possible services and programs for individuals served in Wood County align with WCBDD’s values and mission.

“The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities is looking forward to working with Virginia Nuzum in her role as a board member,” said WCBDD Superintendent Brent Baer. “The board  will benefit greatly from her wisdom of lived experience in implementing our strategic initiatives to meet the needs of those we serve.”
