Walter E. Davidson, 92, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Walter lived in rural Bowling Green, near Scotch Ridge. Born December 28, 1929 to Eldon and Grace (Pope) Davidson. His wife, Von (C. Evonne Hentges) survives. On May 10, 2022 they celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Walter graduated from Webster High School, which later became a part of the Eastwood School District. Following graduation, he served in the US Air Force as a Staff Sargent, specializing in Radar Operations. After his service in the military, he worked for Webster Township. The final 20+ years of his work career, he was Parts Manager of the Massey-Ferguson Farm Store in Bowling Green.
He farmed part-time and was a strong advocate for the 4-H program in Wood County, participating not only as a founding member of the Blue Ribbon Rangers 4-H club, but later as an advisor of the same and serving on various county-wide 4-H leadership committees. A special highlight for Walter and Von was their selection to serve as Grand Marshalls for the Wood County Fair Parade in 2017. Throughout the years, Walter has supported his family’s livestock enterprises and spent many hours traveling to livestock shows and events across the country.
A quiet man, Walter knew no strangers and would strike up conversations with folks everywhere he went. He loved his family deeply and was very proud of his entire family’s accomplishments and accolades.
Walter is survived by his wife, daughter Cheryl (Dallas) Miller, Bowling Green and son Kent (Amy), Pemberville. Grandchildren, Brent (Ashley) Miller, Kyle (Melanie) Miller, Amanda (Jesse) Alfaro, and Samantha (Justin Doyle) Davidson, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert R. Davidson.
