The BG Philharmonia, directed by Emily Freeman Brown, will feature guest artists on double concertoes when it opens its fall season Sunday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. in Kobacker Hall on the BGSU campus.
Among those showcased will be BG native Grant Flick with musical collaborator Jacob Warren on Movement 1, “Jays” from “The Flock Double Concerto,” which the duo composed.
The piece features Warren on bass and Flick on nyckelharpa, a traditional Swedish keyed string instrument. Jared Beu will conduct.
Also on the program will be:
- Overture to “The Magic Flute” by W.A. Mozart conducted by Christopher Hutras, MM conductor
- Concerto for Violin & Cello, first movement, by Johannes Brahms featuring Caroline Chin, violin, and Brian Snow, cello.
- Sinfonia Concertante for Violin & Viola, second movment by W.A. Mozart by Benjamin Hoffman, violin and Hannah Levinson, viola
- “How to Train your Dragon” Suite by John Powell with High School Honors String Festival players
- Hungarian Dance in G minor by Johannes Brahms with High School Honors String Festival players
