What do you get when you combine the musical team behind “Fiddler on the Roof”, the book author of “Cabaret”, and a plot similar to the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan movie,” You’ve Got Mail?”
The answer is Playshop’s next production: “She Loves Me,” a show that several theatre critics have called the most charming musical ever written.
The musical features a perfect combination of sass and elegance; what more could you want? And this year, Waterville Playshop is taking a cue from Hallmark and ushering in the holiday season just a few days earlier than usual. Although love can certainly be spooky, Playshop’s upcoming production on Halloween weekend will be nothing but enchanting and irresistible.
“She Loves Me” is the musical adaptation of the Mikos Laslos play, “Parfuemerie.“ Set in a 1930s European perfumery, we meet feuding shop clerks, Amalia and Georg. After both respond to a “lonely hearts advertisement” in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters that they exchange with their unknown admirers.
Join Amalia and Georg on their hunt to discover the identities of their true loves…with all the twists and turns along the way!
Filled with a cast of witty clerks and zany customers, this is the perfect show to celebrate the change of seasons and all the feelings that go with it! You’ll leave the show saying, “I LOVE IT!”
Director Jennifer Jackson leads these two as part of a stellar cast of 16 actors. Matt Zwyer is vocal director, Rachel Schlueter is choreographer, and Tammy Fitch is the producer.
Both the cast and creative team would lovefor you to join us for this lovely show—one that doesn’t come around very often. Don’t miss your chance to see it!
Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2:30, at the Maumee Indoor Theatre.
Tickets, $18 or $20, are on sale now at www.watervilleplayshop.org. They will also be available at the door.
