Spanish Brass joins forces with Toledo Symphony, Jan. 18
The Spanish Brass will join the Toledo Symphony in concert Saturday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. in the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle.
The brass quintet along with the TSO, conducted by Alain Trudel, will perform a program full of “lively dances, bold colors, jazz rhythms and sultry harmonies. Intoxicating themes and stirring melodies transport listeners to the heart of Spain.”
On the program will be:
- Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio espagnol, op. 34”
- Salvador Brotons’ Concerto for Brass Quintet and Orchestra
- Georges Bizet’s Selections from “Carmen”
- Geronimo Gimenez’ “La Boda de Luis Alonso”
- Pascual Piqueras’ “De Cai”
- Adam Rapa’s “Buleria pa Spanish Brass”
- Albert Guinovart’s “Around the World in 80 Days”
- Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango”
Dubois guest artist Soyeon Kate Lee to perform, Jan. 18
Pianist Soyeon Kate Lee will perform a free recital Saturday, Jan. 18, at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall at BGSU as part of the David D. Dubois Piano Festival and Competition.

Lee’s recital features “Mother Moon Songs,” byPaola Prestini, which the pianist commissioned. This will be the second time Lee performs the piece. Also, on the program will be three Preludes by Claude Debussy, “La Valse” by Maurice Ravel, “Kreisleriana” by Robert Schumann and Sonata No.2 in B-flat minor by Frédéric Chopin.
‘Chicago’ on stage in Toledo, Jan. 23-26
The American Theatre Guild will present the national touring company’s hit musical, “Chicago” at the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Jan. 23-26.

Library hosts board game swap, Jan. 24 & 25
The Wood County District Public Library will host a Board Game Exchange! Friday, Jan. 24 from 1-5 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the second Floor Meeting Room at the Bowling Green Library.
On Friday, from 1-5 p.m., visitors should drop off their unwanted board games. For each board game dropped off, the patron will get a ticket that can be used on Saturday.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., patrons exchange their tickets for board games from other community members.

Myla Marcus hosts evening with artist Jean Gidich, Jan. 25
Myla Marcus Winery, 133 S. Main St., Bowling Green, will host an evening with its featured artist Jean Gidich, on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 5-7 p.m.
The reception is by reservation only. Tickets are $50 which includes wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres an exclusive, natural jute tote featuring a print of Gidich’s work “Kuma,” and a bottle of Myla Marcus wine of the guest’s choice.

Library hosts monthly graphic novel discussion for kids
Students aged 5-11 and up are invited to a book discussion about some favorite early reader graphic novels at WCDPL Mondays at 6 p.m. once a month in The Children’s Place.
Copies of the graphic novel for each month are available for checkout from the Bowling Green Library.

Just Baby ‘N Me storytimes at library on Tuesdays
Just Baby ‘N Me is a lap-sit storytime ideal for babies. This unique storytime will be on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.in The Children’s Place at the Bowling Green Library.
This lap-sit storytime is great for babies from birth through early walkers (12 months). The focus during storytime is on rhymes, songs, finger plays, and exploring short books together, and is meant to facilitate interaction between you and your baby to develop their language and early literacy skills.
Library hosting Fiber Friends Creative Circle on Tuesdays
The Wood County District Public Library is hosting Fiber Friends Creative Circle on Tuesdays at 10 beginning in the 2nd Floor meeting room.
Fiber Friends is a fun and social program that meets to chat and create. People of all skill levels are welcome. Even if ysomeone has never picked up knitting needles or a crochet hook, this group can teach the basic skills to get started on your newest hobby.
