League of Women Voters to hear about ways to defend democracy, March 22
Dominic Wells, PhD in the Political Science Department at Bowling Green State University will speak to the League of Women Voters of Bowling Green on how to defend democracy at its all-member meeting Saturday, March 22 at 9:30 a.m. at the Bowling Green Senior Center, 140 S Grove St.
The discussion will focus on what ca be done as a group and as individuals.
The League members will also review what it means to be non-partisan, hear an update on the results of our strategic planning meeting, and learn more about the BG Schools levy.
Chamber Music Society to perform Schubert & Mozart at BGSU, March 18
The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center will perform a program structured around Franz Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet Tuesday, March 18 at 8 p.m. in Kobacker Hall on the BGSU campus.

Presented through the auspices Hansen Musical Arts Series, the public performance is free.
The first half of the program will feature works by W.A. Mozart, opening with his arrangement of a fugue by W.F. Bach and including his Adagio and Fugue for string quartet and bass and Piano Quartet in E-flat.
‘Cowgirls, Rodeo, and Rural Feminism’ theme of BGSU talk, March 18
Dr. Tracey Hanshew, of Eastern Oregon University, will deliver a Women’s History Month Guest Lecture “Cowgirls, Rodeo, and Rural Feminism, 1890 – 1935” Tuesday, March 18, 4-5:30 p.m. in room 206 of the Bowen Thompson Student Union on the BGSU campus
Hanshew will present her research on rural women in the American West. She will explore the iconic cowgirl image and its significant roles within the Western genre. This topic will resonate with enthusiasts of popular culture, sports, performance, feminism, and American history alike.
This free public lecture is presented by the Department of History at BGSU.
Pianist Robert Satterlee to perform Schubert & Bartók, March 19
Pianist Robert Satterlee will perform the music of Franz Schubert and Béla Bartók in a Faculty Artist Series concert Wednesday, March 19, at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall in the Moore Musical Arts Center on the BGSU campus.
On the program will be:
- Hungarian Melody by Schubert
- From Bagatelles, Op. 6 by Bartók
- Dance Suite by Bartók
- Sonata in B-Flat Major by Schubert

N.B. library’s View & Chew features ‘Omni Loop,’ March 19
The North Baltimore Public Library’s View & Chew free movie series will screen “Omni Loop,” starring Mary Louise Parker Wednesday, March 19 with a start time of 6 p.m. at The Virginia Theater, 119 N. Main St., North Baltimore.
The story follows a quantum physicist who finds herself stuck in a time loop with a black hole growing in her chest and only a week to live. When she meets a gifted student, they team up to save her life and unlock the mysteries of time travel.
The theater doors will open at 5:30 pm. Concessions will be available for purchase.
‘Chicka Chicka’ birthday celebration at library, March 20
The Wood County District Public Library in Bowling Green will throw a birthday party for Bill Martin Jr., author of “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” “Brown Bear,” and other beloved classics. This party will be on Thursday, March 20 from 4-5 p.m. in the Children’s Place.
Community Foundation president to address Rotary, March 20
Joe Edens, president of the Bowling Green Community Foundation will address the Bowling Green Rotary Club meets Thursday, March 20. The meeting begins with lunch at 11:45 a.m. at the Bowling Green Country Club, 923 Fairview Ave., Bowling Green.
Kiwanis to hear about First Solar, March 20
The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will welcome a representative from First Solar Energy as the featured speaker at its meeting on March 20. The meeting will begin at 11:45 a.m. in the Slater Family Ice Arena Lounge on the Bowling Green State University campus. The public is invited to attend, with lunch available for $15.
This presentation will provide insights into solar energy advancements, sustainability efforts, and the role of solar power in shaping the future of energy production. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how First Solar is contributing to clean energy solutions and the impact of solar technology on both local and global scales.

Hancock museum’s film series starts with ‘Wizard of Oz,’ March 21
The Hancock Historical Museum will kick off its Classic Movie Night 2025 series with the 1939 classic “The Wizard of Oz at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21 at the museum at 422 West Sandusky St., Findlay.
This year students from the Ray Browne Association will serve as guest hosts for many of the screenings. Sarah Urbank, a graduate student in English and the treasurer and media and outreach coordinator for the association, will present the classic 1939 film starring Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, and Ray Bolger.
“The Wizard of Oz” follows young Dorothy Gale as she is swept away by a tornado to the magical land of Oz. With the help of her newfound friends—the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion—she embarks on a journey to meet the Wizard and find her way home.
Seating is limited for the free event. Historical information is provided before the movie, and guests are welcome to stay for discussion afterward.
Village Players staging film noir spoof ‘The Thirty-Nine Steps,’ March 28 through April 6
The Village Players Theatre is staging the comic thriller “The Thirty-Nine Steps,” weekends March 28 through April 6 at the Village Players Theatre, 2740 Upton Ave., Toledo.
Showtimes are: Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29th at 7 p.m. with a Sunday matinee March 30 at 2 p.m. and continuing Thursday, April 3, Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m.

Author & actor Paterson Joseph’s library talk rescheduled to April 17
Noted British actor and author Paterson Joseph’s talk has been rescheduled to Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Wood County District Public library atrium in Bowling Green. The event was originally scheduled for April 10.
Joseph will talk about his debut novel “The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho”
The novel is based on the true story of the first Black person to vote in Britain,and who the fight to end slavery. Story. “The Secret Diaries” begins on a slave ship in the Atlantic and ends at the very center of London life. Joseph channels the writing style of the day and draws diaries to give voice to his interior life.

Library holds monthly craft sessions
Monthly crafting sessions are on Fridays at 2 p.m. in the second Floor Meeting Room at the Wood County District Public Library in Bowling Gree.
Each month will be a different craft suitable for beginners and craft enthusiasts alike.

Library hosts monthly graphic novel discussion for kids
Students aged 5-11 and up are invited to a book discussion about some favorite early reader graphic novels at WCDPL Mondays at 6 p.m. once a month in The Children’s Place.
Copies of the graphic novel for each month are available for checkout from the Bowling Green Library.

Just Baby ‘N Me storytimes at library on Tuesdays
Just Baby ‘N Me is a lap-sit storytime ideal for babies. This unique storytime will be on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.in The Children’s Place at the Bowling Green Library.
This lap-sit storytime is great for babies from birth through early walkers (12 months). The focus during storytime is on rhymes, songs, finger plays, and exploring short books together, and is meant to facilitate interaction between you and your baby to develop their language and early literacy skills.
Library hosting Fiber Friends Creative Circle on Tuesdays
The Wood County District Public Library is hosting Fiber Friends Creative Circle on Tuesdays at 10 beginning in the 2nd Floor meeting room.
Fiber Friends is a fun and social program that meets to chat and create. People of all skill levels are welcome. Even if ysomeone has never picked up knitting needles or a crochet hook, this group can teach the basic skills to get started on your newest hobby.
