Wind chill forecast to drop to well below zero

The Wood County Emergency Management Agency has issued the following advisory:

NWS Cleveland provided a quick update on the cold front moving in this weekend through mid-next week.  Temperatures and wind chills continue to decrease with this system.  Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the day Saturday with currently 1-2” of new snow.  Next Tuesday wind chill temperatures are expected to be -20F and -10F Wednesday.

These colder temperatures have the potential to cause mechanical issues, including but not limited to  frozen and broken water lines to vehicle issues (i.e. failing to start or breaking down).

Now is the time to make sure you, your home and vehicles are ready for the extreme cold temperatures.

NWS Cleveland is also monitoring the possibility for ice jams.  Due to the cold temperatures river will have the ability to freeze over.  Approximately four (4) inches of ice is the point where when the ice forms, ice jams become more likely.
