Motorists on East Poe and Dunbridge roads on the east side of Bowling Green may have noticed foam bubbling up this morning from the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
Brian O’Connell, the city’s public utilities director, said the suds occur when one industrial customer in the city sends its soapy wastewater to the plant. The windy weather worsens the problem, he said.
“We’ve been trying to work with them over the past several months,” O’Connell said.
Also worsening the issue is the construction project underway at the wastewater treatment plant, which has resulted in half of the aeration tanks to be offline.
City workers have placed burlap across the culvert at Dunbridge Road in an effort to keep the foam from leaving the area and heading downstream on Poe Road, O’Connell said.
