From WOOD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
Wood County has a “slight risk” (2 -5) of severe weather Wednesday, April 15, afternoon and evening. Rain is expected to begin late morning, continuing off and on through Thursday morning.
Scattered thunderstorms are possible throughout the day with the best chance of severe weather between 3 – 9 p.m. People can expect two rounds of storms – one midafternoon and the other later this evening. High winds in excess of 60 mph, hail over 1″ diameter, and tornadoes are possible, with heavy rain during thunderstorms.
Thursday has a similar forecast but with a “marginal risk” (1-5). Another round of thunderstorms are expected from early afternoon through the evening hours.
Due to the amount of rain, flooding is expected to be a problem in the next few days.
During Wood County EMA’s weekly update call with National Weather Service Cleveland, NWS Cleveland mentioned the possibility for severe weather Saturday night, April 18.
The EMA will continue to monitor and provide updates as appropriate.
