The Wood County Dog Shelter staff recently went to the Ohio County Dog Warden Association fall training and was awarded agency of the year.

This award is given to a current county member of OCDWA. Selection criteria for this award includes participation in training programs for personnel, outstanding/innovative public education programs, active community involvement, and participation/support of OCDWA functions.

In recent years the staff and volunteers have implemented many new programs including off site adoption events, dog safety classes in Wood County schools, weekly field trips with staff and volunteers to local parks, monthly dog runs with the local run group Run Toledo, and a new partnership with the parks program to hold summer dog events.

Anyone interested in dog safety classes may contact Wood County Dog Warden Jodi Harding at 419-354-9242.
