The Wood County Sheriff’s Office has received a 100% passage of the annual jail inspection conducted by the Ohio Bureau of Adult Detention.
The Department of Rehabilitation and Correction inspected the jail Nov. 5. The group of standards inspected focused on Reception & Release, Classification, Security, Housing, Sanitation and Environmental Conditions, Communication, Visitation, Medical and Mental Health Services, Food Service, Recreation and Programming, Inmate Discipline, Administrative Segregation, Grievance, Staffing, and Staff Training.
The inspection consisted of the inspector receiving and reviewing requested documentation and materials, touring selected areas of the jail, and having discussions with various jail staff.
Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said he was extremely pleased with the award, as this was the first annual inspection after the completion of the jail expansion and renovation project.
“The deputies have had to work extremely hard around all of the interruptions that go with the construction and now have an even more incredible and brand-new work environment daily,” he said.
The Wood County Jail has received a 100% passing rate every year Wasylyshyn has been sheriff of Wood County.
