Joseph “Joey” Hudecek, 74, of Grand Rapids, Ohio passed away Friday, June 3, 2016. Joseph was born in Toledo, Ohio to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Bender) Hudecek Berry. He married Sharon Peterson on December 26, 1970 and she survives.
Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Korean DMZ being honorably discharge in 1962. Joseph worked at American Lincoln in Bowling Green and as a truck driver. Joseph delivered newspapers for the Bowling Green Sentinel Tribune, along with his wife. He enjoyed camping and attending the races. Joseph was known as a jokester, but was always willing to help others.
Joseph is also survived by his daughters: Terrianna Golightly of Eastover, South Carolina, Renee Hudecek of Dayton, Ohio; sisters: Rebecca Sue (Pat Linthicum) Serrato of Midlothian, Texas; Martha Lou Frantz, of Grand Rapids; brothers: Charles Allen Berry of Hoytville; James Edward (Pat) Berry and John Robert (Sherrie) Berry both of Grand Rapids; grandchildren: Heather Lynn Griner, Melissa Michelle Odom, and William Hunter Golightly. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Charles Berry.
Visitation for Joseph will be on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 2:00 -4:00 PM & 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Wright-Hanneman-Habegger Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second Street, Grand Rapids, Ohio where his funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o the funeral home.
