An Indiana man died Monday (5-12-25) night in a crash at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Defiance Pike.
At 10:11 p.m. the Wood County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of the collision between a Ford F350, operated by James Wilhelm, 48, of North Baltimore, and a Lincoln Town Car, driven by Dane Knapp Sr. , 42, of Auburn, Indiana.
The sheriff’s deputies determined that the Lincoln was westbound on Defiance Pike when it entered the intersection after failing to stop or yield and was struck on the passenger side by the Ford.
Knapp was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Ford F350, Lyndsi Wilhelm, was taken to Wood County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident is still under investigation.
