Toledo Museum to celebrate Juneteenth

The Toledo Museum of Art  will celebrate Juneteenth Thursday, June 19, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a full day of activities. Click for full schedule.

James “Dirtykics” Dickerson will lead a LocalEyes Tour (TMA photo)

Among the featured events will be:

  • Juneteenth: LocalEyes Tour with James “Dirtykics” Dickerson noon to 1 p.m. meeting in Herrick Lobby. LocalEyes is an opportunity for Toledoan to share the works of art in TMA’s collection that have inspired them. This allows artists, professors, musicians and other community members to share the museum’s impact on them with the public. Click to register.
  • Juneteenth: Yoga/Sound Bath with Holly and Dani 11:30 a.m. to 12:45p.m. in the  Wolfe Gallery. Holly Strawbridge and Dani Nolff will guide participants through different yoga exercises and meditative moments to relieve stress and help them center themselves. Space is limited. Participants should bring their own yoga mat or blanket.Click to register.
  • The godmother of Toledo jazz,  Ramona Collins, will perform from 4-5 p.m. in Gallery 1 (Africa Unmasked).
