Bowling Green area residents celebrated Independence Day Wednesday evening with fireworks, fried fair food, and free games for children.
The annual BG BOOM event, held at the Wood County Fairgrounds, was hosted by the City of Bowling Green, Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Visit BG Ohio, Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association and the Wood County Agricultural Society.

With the support of Visit BG Ohio, the BG BOOM festival began in the late afternoon with free activities, including inflatables and interactive games. The Wood County Agricultural Society arranged for 12 food trucks to be on-site.

Local chamber member organizations hosted activities for the children in attendance, including kindness rocks and temporary tattoos with Trinity United Methodist Church of Bowling Green. There were games and giveaways from Western & Southern Life and Wood County Children Services. Other participating organizations included Children’s Resource Center, Wood County ADAMHS, Walmart, and Meijer.

The fireworks display, which began at dusk, was launched in a secure area within the tractor pullers’ property, which provided for viewing from all around the fairgrounds area, as well as within the surrounding neighborhoods.
The 30-minute fireworks show was performed by Rozzi Fireworks.
The BG BOOM event was made possible by the support of sponsors Bates Recycling, Belleville Brothers Meats, Ohio Logistics, State Bank, VFW Post 1148, and Walmart.
