Ohio State Highway Patrol holding ‘one-stop testing’ for prospective applicants

On Monday, July 14, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will host a “one -stop testing” event for prospective applicants at the Bowling Green State University Student Recreation Center, located at 1411 Ridge Street, Bowling Green.

The Patrol is actively seeking driven, service-minded individuals who want to transform their talents into a career that serves and protects the people of Ohio. Whether someone is a natural leader, skilled communicator, technology enthusiast, or someone with a passion for helping others, the Patrol offers a path for you to turn your strengths into purpose.

The event begins at 8 a.m., where interested candidates will have the opportunity to talk with troopers about a career of service, complete an application, take a written test, and if successful, move directly into a physical fitness assessment—all in one visit.

Those planning to attend should park in BGSU Lot X and arrive ready to test — wearing appropriate physical fitness attire, bringing identification, and knowing their basic personal information.

This “one-stop testing” opportunity allows prospective applicants  to complete the first stages of the process and meet the July 15 application deadline to secure a spot in the 178th Academy Class, which begins in September.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 20 and 39
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Have a valid driver’s license

Upon graduation from the Academy, cadets are guaranteed assignment to a Patrol post within 50 air-miles of their residence.
