The driver of a construction truck was cited for having an unsecure load after the truck reportedly left a trail of debris on its way to a construction site.

A motorist called Bowling Green Police Division on Saturday (Aug. 9) around 11 a.m., after the witness reportedly saw the Gerken Construction vehicle dropping large amounts of debris onto the road as it turned from East Poe Road onto North Main Street.

Police found a trail of rocks and asphalt chunks that began in the 1200 block of East Poe Road, turned north onto North Main Street, continued west on Van Camp Road, south on Fairview Avenue, and into the Bowling Green Middle School parking lot.

The police officer reportedly approached the Gerken Construction supervisor on the scene, explained the problem, and asked for the truck driver’s name for the citation. According to the police report, the supervisor became argumentative and initially refused. He allegedly told the officer that another vehicle was following to clean up the debris. However, police found no such vehicle.

The supervisor eventually gave the driver’s name, and police issued a citation to Matthew Vollmar, 54, of Liberty Center.
