From WOOD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The 22nd annual Wood County Living History Day, presented by DACOR Internet Services, will be Sunday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. The event will take place on the Wood County Museum grounds, 13660 County Home Road. Local residents will portray citizens of Wood County. Honorees for 2025 were chosen in conjunction with the World War II exhibit that opened at the museum this past spring.
The Living History Day event is free and open to the public. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Parking will be available in the museum’s parking lot. In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved inside the museum’s meeting room.
2025 honorees are:
- Elizabeth Bowlus (9/26/1907 – 3/17/2008): Daughter, sister, teacher, Women’s Army Corps (WAC)
- Portrayed by: Wendy Guion
- Elizabeth Dunipace (7/17/1917 – 2/2/2013): Nurse in WWII, wife, mother
- Portrayed by: Erin Marten
- Carl Eschedor (12/5/1915 – 4/10/1999): Farmer, son, brother, WWII Army veteran, POW
- Portrayed by: Geoff Howes
- Louis Gilles (2/9/1923 – 12/17/2017): L.O.F. worker, WWII veteran, glass worker, built the case to protect the original US Constitution
- Portrayed by: Tom Edge
- Harold Gonyer (3/26/1927 – 8/26/1966): WWII veteran, lineman for Northern Ohio Telephone

- Ruth (Baughn) Hoffman (12/9/1924 – 5/13/2020): Student, railroad worker, USO employee, librarian, wife, mother

- Albert Lowell Randall (11/18/1912 – 11/18/1997): Baker, doctor, father, WWII veteran, outdoorsman, actor
- Portrayed by: Anderson Lee
- Carrie Swartz (6/16/1884 – 11/23/1960): Wife, homemaker, mother of 5 WWII veterans, Liberty Ship christener
