BGSU to hold ribbon-cutting dedication for the Student Green on Saturday, Sept. 13

From BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY

As part of its 2025 Homecoming celebration, Bowling Green State University will hold a ribbon-cutting dedication for the Student Green at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, outdoors on the west side of the Perry Field House, featuring a performance by the Falcon Marching Band.

Made possible by a $1.5 million gift from alumnus and national trustee Paul J. Hooker ’75 and his wife, N. Margo Hooker ’74, the new, state-of-the-art turf field will provide a durable, all-weather practice, performance, competition, and gathering space for the Falcon Marching Band, BGSU club sports, and other learning and greater community activities.

The Student Green will also be equipped with ample lighting and an all-new teaching tower named in honor of two-time alumnus Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin ’00, ’04 – director of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band – in memory of BGSU professor Herbert A. Spencer Jr. Karol Spencer, Herbert’s wife, made a charitable gift to the project to honor her late husband who taught music at the university for nearly 30 years.
