From WOOD COUNTY COMMITTEE ON AGING
A new event aims to redefine how people talk about and experience menopause. “Menopause: Claim the Change, Fuel the Community” will take place on Monday, Oct. 6, from 5 – 7:30 p.m., at the Wood County Committee on Aging (WCCOA), 140 S. Grove St., Bowling Green. The goal is to offer a “powerful and inclusive” space for women and individuals experiencing menopause and perimenopause to come together, learn, and celebrate this transformative life stage.
Hosted by the WCCOA, in partnership with Wood County Hospital and Wood County Health Department, this event aims to break down stigma, build community, and provide actionable tools and support to navigate menopause with confidence and strength.
Event highlights:
- Community conversations: 5 – 5:45 p.m.
- There will be an opportunity to share experiences, build empathy, and foster deep connection during the mocktail hour, sponsored by Heritage Corner.
- Empowerment sessions: 5 – 5:45 p.m.
- There will be bone-boosting fitness classes, including yoga, designed to help attendees reconnect with their bodies and personal power. Participants are encouraged to bring proper footwear, a water bottle, and a yoga mat. The sessions will be facilitated by Tammy Metz-Starr and The WellBG.
- Resource marketplace: 5 – 7:30 p.m.
- There will be a curated selection of wellness brands, healthcare providers, authors, and advocates specializing in midlife and menopausal health and women’s beauty items.

- Expert panel: 5:45 – 6:30 p.m.
- This panel will feature prominent voices in women’s health, hormone therapy, nutrition, mental wellness, and alternative medicine. Speakers will include Heidi Steenrod, MSN, RN, iRNPA, functional health strategist; The WellBG personal trainer, and Carolin Bolin, naturopathic doctor.
- There will be an opportunity for a Q&A session during this time.
Dinner will include grilled chicken, broccoli, salad, and fruit salad, sponsored by Brookdale of Bowling Green.
The closing ceremony will honor the wisdom, resilience, and beauty of women in midlife and beyond.
The event is open to women and individuals experiencing perimenopause or menopause. Health professionals, wellness advocates, partners, caregivers, allies seeking to support loved ones, and people curious about aging, vitality, and holistic well-being are also welcome to attend.
