BG Civil Service Commission schedules meeting for Thursday, Jan. 8

The Bowling Green Civil Service Commission will meet on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. The meeting will be held in the council chambers, 305 N. Main St. The purpose of the meeting is to review, modify, add and/or recommend changes to civil service rules, and take all actions necessary to establish eligibility and certified lists.

Action will also be taken, as necessary, to modify, add, accept, or abolish job descriptions, and to establish classified positions and/or schedule and/or establish the requirements for or types of hiring or promotional examinations.

The Bowling Green Civil Service Commission is tasked with ensuring city compliance with civil service rules and regulations. The commission is responsible for administering entry-level and promotional examinations for ranked positions with the police and fire divisions. The commission also approves job descriptions and classifications for inclusion in the city’s class plan. The commission is also responsible for holding hearings related to disciplinary actions relating to classified personnel.
