Two teen girls allegedly steal car from group home, lead police on high speed chase and crash

Two teenage girls, who allegedly stole a vehicle from a group home in Montgomery County, were apprehended this morning (Jan. 5) after leading law enforcement on a high speed chase between Bowling Green and Perrysburg.

At 1:15 a.m., Bowling Green Police Dispatch notified patrols that the city’s automatic license plate cameras had spotted a stolen vehicle at the corner of North Main Street and Ridge Street. The vehicle was next hit headed northbound at North Main Street and Newton Road.

A BGPD officer initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Ohio 25 and Union Hill Road. As the officer was giving orders to the occupants of the stolen car, the vehicle reportedly took off toward Perrysburg.

The vehicle reached speeds over 100 mph, before crashing into a car in the diverging diamond interchange in Perrysburg.

The girls, ages 13 and 15, had allegedly stolen the vehicle from a group home where they were living in the Dayton area. They were taken to a hospital to be cleared medically before being taken to Wood County Juvenile Detention Center. Both were charged with receiving stolen property and one with failure to comply with police orders.
