Following is a list of closures or delayed openings due to weather on Tuesday, (Jan. 27):

Bowling Green City School District is closed.

The Wood County Committee on Aging (WCCOA) announced that all WCCOA locations will be closed on Tuesday, due to blowing/drifting snow and dangerously low wind chills expected throughout the day. This closure includes all meals and programming across the county. These conditions create hazardous travel and increase safety risks for older adults, volunteers, and staff. WCCOA encourages older adults to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and take extra precautions during this period of extreme cold.

The Wood County Senior Center, located at 140 S. Grove St, Bowling Green, will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a warming center only. No meals or activities will be offered. Both lunch and the evening meal are canceled.

Home delivered meal clients are asked to use their shelf-stable meals or frozen meals. WCCOA drivers will conduct wellness check phone calls throughout the day to ensure client safety.

WCCOA reminds community members to check on their older adult neighbors, friends, and family members. A quick phone call, text, or knock at the door can ensure they have the warmth, food, medications, and support they need. If you are able, please also consider shoveling sidewalks, clearing porches or walkways, and assisting with ice removal for older adults in your neighborhood. These small acts of kindness help prevent falls and ensure safe mobility.

Anyone with questions or in need of assistance is encouraged to contact WCCOA at 419-353-5661.

Wood County office buildings will open for business at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, due to inclement weather. This will allow the county’s maintenance and township road crews with additional time to perform their work.

Wood County Health Department, Wood County Community Health Center, and Wood County WIC will be delayed opening this morning. Buildings will open at 9:30 am.

The Northwestern Water and Sewer District announced that its main office will open at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, due to weather conditions. Customers can use online and automated phone pay options during this time; you can find more information on our website.

Our water and sewer services operate 24/7/365. While our main office is closed, you can still reach us in an emergency. Contact your local county sheriff’s department for a licensed operator to be dispatched.
