BG man charged with alleged strangulation and domestic violence, leads police on foot chase

A barefooted man led Bowling Green Police on a foot chase Saturday (Jan. 31) around 3:52 a.m.

Eric Wilson, 33, of Bowling Green, was charged with strangulation, domestic violence, obstructing official business, and taken to Wood County Jail.

A woman in an apartment in the 600 block of Sixth Street called police after Wilson allegedly grabbed her keys and jumped out of a second story window, wearing shorts and a sweatshirt.

Police saw a man matching that description running through yards, and climbing over a fence by the CSX railroad tracks. Four officers joined in the pursuit, and were able to arrest Wilson in the 400 block of South Summit Street.

Because of injuries to his bare feet and abrasions to his legs from falling several times, Wilson was transported to Mercy Hospital in Perrysburg to be medically cleared.

The woman told police she had told Wilson to not return to her apartment after being out at a bar. However, he reportedly did return, rushed her and put both hands around her neck, then forced her onto the bathroom floor.

Later in the evening, he allegedly punched her in her eye, and shocked her repeatedly with a taser. When she was able to call 911, Wilson jumped about the window, according to the report.

The woman was also taken to the hospital for injuries.
