From NORTH BALTIMORE PUBLIC LIBRARY
“Ohio Goes to the Movies,” a statewide celebration of Ohio’s contributions to the film industry, presented as part of America 250-Ohio, is coming to North Baltimore through a partnership between North Baltimore Public Library, North Baltimore Historical Society, and the Virginia Theater. The program highlights films connected to Ohio, including those featuring Ohio actors, filmmakers, and locations.
Through this local partnership, North Baltimore will feature a free Ohio-connected movie each month. For the May feature, the community is invited to attend a presentation on Saturday, May 2, at 10 a.m., with a screening of “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
The Ohio connection for this month’s feature is Carrie (Bauer) Hollinger, a 1988 North Baltimore High School graduate who served as costume supervisor on both “Avatar: Fire and Ash” and “Avatar: The Way of Water.” Hollinger has also worked on other productions, including “Bridesmaids,” “This Is Us,” and “22 Jump Street.”
Following the movie, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Hollinger will speak about her role as a costume supervisor and offer attendees a behind-the-scenes look at helping create the world of Avatar.
This event provides an opportunity for the community to celebrate a North Baltimore graduate whose work has reached audiences around the world, while enjoying a free film at the historic Virginia Theater.
The event is free and open to the public. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend.
