From DOWNTOWN BOWLING GREEN & BOWLING GREEN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Downtown Bowling Green and the Bowling Green Community Foundation are proud to announce the completion of the America 250 Mural on the east wall of 123 E. Court Street in Downtown Bowling Green.
Made possible through funding from the Bowling Green Community Foundation’s Arts & Culture Grant Program with support from the Greater Toledo Community Foundation, the large-scale mural honors the 250th anniversary of the United States while creating a bold new landmark in downtown.
Designed and painted by Ohio mural artist Dean Davis, the nearly 2,000-square-foot mural features a sweeping interpretation of the American flag anchored by a striking “America 250” centerpiece. The project also reflects Downtown Bowling Green’s commitment to investing in placemaking projects that strengthen community identity, enhance public spaces, and encourage exploration throughout downtown.
“We wanted this mural to inspire pride, encourage people to discover another part of downtown, and become a lasting part of Bowling Green’s story,” said Hallie Williams, Executive Director of Downtown Bowling Green. “It was important to us that this project not only celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, but also improve a property we own and invest in an area of downtown that deserves more attention. We are incredibly thankful to the Bowling Green Community Foundation and the Greater Toledo Community Foundation for believing in this vision and helping us bring it to life.”
The mural expands Downtown Bowling Green’s growing collection of public art while creating a new point of interest for residents and visitors alike. Organizers hope it encourages people to experience East Court Street, support nearby businesses, and continue exploring everything downtown has to offer.
“The Bowling Green Community Foundation is proud to support projects that create lasting cultural assets and strengthen our community’s sense of place,” said BGCF President Joe Edens. “This mural commemorates an important milestone in our nation’s history while adding beauty, vibrancy, and community pride to Downtown Bowling Green.”
The America 250 Mural is located at 123 E. Court Street, a privately owned mixed-use residential and commercial property. Visitors are welcome to enjoy and photograph the mural from adjacent public areas; however, the parking lot and building are reserved for tenants, customers, and authorized visitors.
