Wood County agriculture and agriculture-related businesses are a leading economic driver locally and globally.
The Wood Soil and Water Conservation District invites the public to get a first-hand look and lesson at some of the farms and businesses that are part of the area’s agricultural industry.
The district hosts the 2026 Ag-Venture, a self-driving farm tour, on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 pm.
Visitors can travel at their own pace as they visit any or all of the five stops and seven businesses. They will be able to meet local farm families, experience historical equipment use, learn about ag businesses and see how water quality and soil health impact it all.
The stops this year are:
Aaron & Stacey Creps Family Farm, 15828 Otsego Pike, Weston: grain, hay and pickle farmers plus custom services such as tillage, planting and combining. See how the generational experiences and unique skills such as welding and plasma cutting fits into farm operations. At the site, there are kids’ activities and the opportunity to “sit in the seat.”
Dusty Boots, LTD, also at 15828 Otsego Pike, Weston: Barn tours, ground roping, pony rides, horse nutrition seminar, Bucking Barista food truck.
Bowling Green Water Treatment Plant, 17549 W. River Road, Bowling Green: Providing safe, high-quality drinking water, it operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to ensure the quality of the drinking water meets or exceeds all federal and state requirements; guided facility tours on the hour, 10-2.
Fox-Shank Living Laboratory, 1850 Tontogany Creek Road: Situated on 16 acres, this unique and dynamic outdoor classroom is a restored wetland from an agricultural field; self-guided tour with interpretive signs; limited mobility transportation available at the top of the hour. Photo op spot, farm animal fun, Wood SWCD annual election, Wood County Farm Bureau $5 flapjacks for farmers pancake breakfast 9:30-10:30, informational displays, snacks and water throughout the day.
Luckey Farmers Inc., Sugar Ridge branch, 11774 Long St., Bowling Green: Behind-the-scenes tour of a state-of-the-art automated grain delivery system, including the grain pit and a 730,000-bushel grain bin; guided facility tours, kids’ activities, soy tires technology.
National Construction Equipment Museum, 16623 Liberty Hi Road: Home to over 220 construction machines and vehicles from the late 1800s through 1980s. Feature display: Drainage and the Great Black Swamp – talk with experts in the field and get a close-up look at the equipment used in the early days of clearing the Wood County area/ grounds tours and visit the museum.
Power of Yesteryear, also at 16623 Liberty Hi Road on the grounds of the HCEA Museum; A close-up and hands-on look at hundreds of antique farm tractors, equipment and engines, memorabilia and farm toys; John Deere is the featured tractor, engines and equipment for this show. Sandwiches, a corn-shelling demonstration, a kiddie tractor pull, Golden Eagle and Freedom Valley model trains.
