A community brainstorming session on “Shared Prosperity, Eliminating Waste in BG” will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m., in the Wood County District Public Library, 251 N. Main St., Bowling Green.
Dr. Neocles Leontis and the League of Women Voters of Bowling Green will try to identify strategies and specific actions that can be taken as a community, in collaboration with city government, school, the university and local businesses, to make BG “more prosperous, sustainable, and resilient in the face of anticipated economic and environmental changes and challenges.”
Seven issue areas have been identified for discussion, according to the interests of participants. Other issue areas may be suggested by participants. Each participant will join a group of people interesting in discussing a particular issue. The group should address several stages in solving the problem and prepare a 5 minute report of their findings and ideas.
The seven issue areas are:
–Safe housing for all residents regardless of income
–Heating costs and energy efficiency
–Municipal waste removal, recycling and re-purposing
–Access to clean, low-cost electricity
–Mobility and access
–Internet access for all to overcome the “Digital Divide”
–Access to benefits of electric vehicles
This workshop will be led by Leontis, professor of chemistry and biochemistry at BGSU.
The public is invited to participate.
