Karen Lee Fisher Bell, Bowling Green, OH, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Bowling Green Care Center. She was 66.
Mrs. Bell was born May 27th, 1951 in Sharon, PA to Ralph and Phyllis Fisher also of Sharon, PA. She graduated from Sharon High School in 1969 then Spencer Hospital School of Nursing (Meadville,Pa) in 1972. Lieutenant, Mrs. Bell, served as a nurse in the US Army Nurse Corps. Karen earned a B.S. in Education from California State College(Pa.) She moved to Bowling Green, Ohio in 1980 with her husband, Gary A. Bell, whom she married March 11th, 1972.
She taught nursing at the Akron City Hospital School of Nursing in Akron, Ohio, was the Director of Nursing at Community Nursing Home (currently Bowling Green Care Center) then at HCR ManorCare in Toledo, Ohio where she retired as Assistant Vice President of Home Health Care and Hospice.
Mrs. Bell was an active member of The First United Methodist Church, BG, Triune Chapter #344 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and an adult advisor to the Order of DeMolay for Boys and the Order of Rainbow for Girls where she was affectionately known as “Ma Bell”. She especially enjoyed playing euchre with the BG Euchre Club whose members became close lifelong friends.
She loved anything Purple, collecting Moose, a nice Cup of Tea and being a Grandmother.
She will be missed by her husband of 45 years, Gary Bell, Bowling Green; daughter, Kimbrough C. (Wesley) Polinsky, her granddaughter, LeeAnn Amerika Polinsky, of Grand Rapids, OH; two sisters, Doris Lapikas, South Pymatuning, PA and Patricia (James) Caughman, Houston, TX; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Christine) Bell, North Scituate, RI, Kevin (Pam) Bell, S. Lyons MI and Bruce Bell, Canton, MI; a sister-in-law, Barbara L. Bell, Cincinnati, OH; a niece, 5 nephews and 2 great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lawrence Fisher; her son, Bryan L. Bell; and her brother-in-law, Daniel Lapikas (Doris), South Pymatuning, PA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 9, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster St. An Eastern Star Service will begin Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. immediately followed by her funeral service at the funeral home. Pastor Chris Walter will officiate.
Interment will take place Thursday May 10, 2018 in Americas Cemetery (formerly Hillcrest Memorial Park) in Hermitage, Pennsylvania where she will be laid to rest beside her son, brother and parents.
