A Michigan woman was killed, and a Bowling Green women injured this morning in a crash on Ohio 199.
Troopers from the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating the two-vehicle crash that occurred on Route 199, near Niederhouse Road, in Perrysburg Township.
At approximately 10:45 a.m., a Ford Focus operated by Elizabeth Knapp, 62, of Luna Pier, Michigan, was traveling northbound on Route 199, when a GMC full-size van operated by Virginia Cogar, 70, of Bowling Green, was southbound on Route 199.
According to the patrol, Knapp went left of center and struck Cogar’s vehicle. Cogar then went off the right side of the road and overturned in a water- filled ditch.
Knapp was pronounced deceased at the scene by Perrysburg Township EMS. Cogar was transported to St. Vincent Hospital by EMS with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
All individuals involved in this crash were wearing their seat belts. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Perrysburg Township Police, Fire & EMS, Wright’s Towing and Vj’s Towing.
This crash remains under investigation.
