TEMPERANCE, MICHGAN – Little Blessings Veteran Outreach will host its second Annual Warrior Fundraiser at Shade Rock Farms, Ottawa Lake, Michigan, on Saturday, Aug. 28.  The Warrior Fundraiser helps military veterans and their families through equine-assisted therapies, integrated wellness programs, peer fellowship, and community involvement in southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio.

Little Blessings was founded in 2018 by retired Air Force combat veteran Jamie Paxton. Paxton notes, “Little Blessings is one of only two equine organizations in the United States using a multi-week equine program for veterans.”  She adds, “This fundraiser helps assure we meet the continuing needs of veterans and their families as they transition to post-service life.”

Adjustment to post-service life can be difficult for veterans who struggle with PTSD, suicidal thoughts, and other service-related traumas.  Little Blessings staff are trained in the nationally recognized EAGALA parogram using certified mental health professionals, equine specialists, and interactions between horse and client to help veterans find their paths forward.  All equine-assisted therapies are at no cost to qualified veterans.

Little Blessings also has programs for the veteran’s family, including wellness programs, spousal support retreats, and first of its kind Military Kids equine program.

The Warrior Fundraiser is on Saturday, Aug. 28, 1-10 p.m. at Shade Rock Farm., 5577 Section Road, Ottawa Lake, Michigan.

Children’s activities are from 1-4 p.m. featuring a Princess party, petting farm, and games.  Live music, food vendors, and refreshment vendors will be active throughout the event, with special Patriot Recognition between 55-6 p.m., featuring music by Navy veteran Dave Bray and guest speaker Army Combat Veteran Louis Belluomini with his service dog Star.

Admission is $20  per adult, $10 each for children ages 14 and under (includes a hot dog, chips, and drink.)  Children ages 2 and under are admitted free.
