Play golf, go to the beach – and raise money for BG Community Foundation at the same time

STEM in the Park is one of many projects supported by the Bowling Green Community Foundation.

The Bowling Green Community Foundation is giving local residents a chance to play golf here and vacation in Florida – all while raising money for local non-profit organizations.

Since 1997, the foundation has been awarding grants each year to non-profit organizations that serve the Bowling Green community. The grants aren’t huge – but every year they allow local non-profit organizations to offer new services to Bowling Green area residents.

Some of those funds come from local residents who participate in the annual golf outing, and buy raffle tickets for a weeklong vacation in Fort Myers Beach.

The 23rd annual golf outing is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 17, at Stone Ridge Golf Club with shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. This year’s event will include a golf scramble format, a proximity contest for a shot at $250, and a post round lunch at Stone Ridge.

Register your foursome for $450.

The title sponsor for the event is Edward Jones. Other sponsorship opportunities are available. Download sponsorship form here and mail to PO Box 1175, Bowling Green, Ohio, 43402.

The Bowling Green Community Foundation is also selling $20 raffle tickets for a chance to win a $2,100 vacation stay.

To support the foundation, Todd and Mary Noll have donated a home with easy and nearby access to both the beach and downtown Fort Myers. The house has a screened-in pool and hot tub and is located directly across the street from seven miles of white sand beaches, restaurants, shopping, and public trolley access. Coolers, grill, beach toys, bikes, everything you need are included with the house.

The available dates are May 15, 2022-Nov. 15, 2022, and include seven nights, Saturday to Saturday with a maximum of six people.

The winner will be drawn at 1 p.m. on Sept. 17, during the annual golf outing. People do not have to be present to win. Entries must be submitted by noon on Sept. 17.

The Bowling Green Community Foundation, a non-profit entity, exists to improve the quality of life in the Bowling Green area by providing funding and support for diverse and innovative programs that enhance the health, welfare and vitality of the Bowling Green community. Private contributions are the sole support of the foundation.

The foundation achieves its purpose through its grant program. At the end of each calendar year, and after careful evaluation of the applications submitted to the foundation, the grants committee distributes funds to be used the following year. Its selections may include proposals written for educational or sports activities, health or safety initiatives, environmental sustainability, as well as for the visual or performing arts.
