Bowling Green Police charged a Hamler man with assault for reportedly punching a man.
On Saturday, around 11:10 p.m., an officer was driving in the 400 block of North Enterprise Street when he saw a group of males in the roadway who appeared to be fighting. One of the men fell to the ground.
The officer pursued two men walking away from the group. One of the men, Dontarrie Johnson Jr., 23, was identified by others in the group as punching the victim.
Johnson told police he was acting in self-defense, however, he had no injuries and could not provide an explanation for punching the victim.
The victim had cuts on the bridge of his nose, which appeared to possibly be broken. He was taken to the hospital by a friend.
